How many called Alice?

It seems we have two girls with the name 'Alice' living here in Rose Cottage and so some confusing is starting to ensue....

First of all we have Alice 'Sasha' who was actually the first to arrive.  She has said in no uncertain terms that she is keeping her name!

The other of course is Alice Schoenhut.

Now because her hair is a lovely blonde colour, she thinks that perhaps it should be HER that is called 'Norma Jean' as she thinks she looks rather like Marilyn Monroe now,...with her blonde hair.

Does she look like a Norma Jean?

But of course Gladys Jean changed her name to Norma Jean only two days ago!

So what do you think?  Could she be a Maggie or a Martha?   Or something completely different.  I think Maggie might suit her..

Keep two girls with the name 'Alice' or change her name?  Change both the Schoenhut girls' names.

Oh the decisions that go on in this household...could make your mind boggle! ;-)

So just what did the girls do yesterday?

So what to do on a wet day...you may recall yesterday the weather was terrible,  Alice and Anne-Marie stared out the patio windows disappointed that yet again they couldn't go out to play.

While Alice was staring out the window I noticed the state of her hair - not that I haven't noticed before, but I decided it was the perfect opportunity for a hair wash.

Her hair was a dirty blonde colour and quite 'stiff'.

Alice decided she was quite ready for a hair wash and so we set to work.

Imagine my astonishment when I discovered it was a real hair wig!  The water changed a murky colour, but the hair grew softer and lighter.     A little hair was lost during the combing through process, but fortunately not too much.

Alice can't quite believe how it feels now.

What a transformation!

It is a shame that she took a pair of scissors to her fringe/bangs at some stage - seems something a lot of little girls try!

The back - isn't it pretty?

It was the day for transformations it seems.

Gladys Jean decided she too wanted a makeover.

We hunted through the wig box and found a wig that fitted - it had lots of ringlets, which really didn't suit so the length was shortened and the ringlets washed out.

A new dress was made for her, of which she is especially proud of.

The dress has a lovely little detachable lace collar.

She thinks she might like a new name as well...which we are currently debating on.  She thinks she would quite like to be called Norma Jean.

So after these makeovers what did the girls get up to on a rainy day?

Why they played a game of dominoes.  Norma Jean is asking Anne-Marie how to play and Anne-Marie is explaining about matching up the numbers of dots on the dominoes.

Welcome Gladys Jean

We are pleased to welcome Gladys Jean into our Schoenhut Family, thanks to one of the Hitty Girls 'trading places' and a swap that took place.  Gladys Jean is a 14 inch tall Miss Dolly and is quite petite compared to her sisters.  Gladys Jean could be considered a waif...she has a wobbly head and came with no clothes or wig and has probably been repainted in parts at some stage.  Certainly her eyebrows don't quite appear original!  She has cute little carved teeth and a lovely sweet look though and has fitted in very well.

Peggy Sue welcomes her and reassures her she looks very pretty in the 'Prince Gregor' wig, which is the only wig to hand that fitted her.

She gives her a cuddle and tells her that the 'woodens' get much love in this household.

Gladys Jean has borrowed a dress until her dress is made.

Naturally when there is a newcomer to Rose Cottage it doesn't take long before some clothes are made for them, and sweet Gladys Jean only had to wait a few days.

She has her own dress (similar to one made for Peggy Sue last summer)

She is now just awaiting some shoes..
