In a Conundrum...

I feel as if I am in a conundrum/facing a conundrum at the moment...if that is the right use for the word...going to look it up right now! Yes I think that word suits...

While in this kind of 'desperate' state of mind I currently find myself in...yet another side effect of withdrawing from the medication I was on...I have been thinking about a lot of my dolls again and feeling a bit overwhelmed by some of them.

First up some ramblings about my Kidz n Cats dolls. First thing I noticed when searching for some photos was that I haven't taken any of them this year!  Well apart from the one below of Bobby and Jacob in their matching sweaters...That is three months!  That in itself tells me something (apart from the fact that there hasn't been much outside doll play.

I have three boys, Hamish (Robby) and Bobby (Bobo) and Alistair.  Both Hamish and Bobby I love and Bobby has featured in quite a bit of my story telling with Henry and friends on my Sasha blog.  Alistair I just haven’t really bonded with and not sure I can really see myself doing so now as normally with the boys I love them straight away.  Not sure of the reason as I love his outfit, but is it because I have never really changed him out of it that I feel this way?

I have two girls Sophie (who if I am honest with myself, I probably fell in love with her because of her outfit) and Camilla (another blonde, but with a fringe and the purple ski outfit)  I ‘ve  never really done anything with these two girls.  I find myself being drawn to another – Stine – I think it is because her face reminds me of Hamish.  Do I go down this path, try another and sell on the two girls I have, or do I try with them for a bit longer.  Do I just give up on the girls?  The other two I am drawn to are Kiki – because of her darker colouring and Evita – because her face is quite different as you can see her teeth.  But I am not really convinced with those two to be honest.  I also think Laura is lovely and have seen her ‘in the flesh’ as my friend has her.

Camille.

Again I had to search through last year's photos to find some I had taken of these two girls.

Why am I even thinking any of this when my mind is currently ‘unstable’ I wonder? I guess partly because I have a discount voucher to use on Evilbay and all of these four dolls are available and so I could get them at a discounted price...yet that really isn't logical.

So I am  thinking about selling on Alister (but keeping his clothes…so I guess I would have to make him something to travel to his new home in! LOL

I feel quite an unease about many of my dolls at the moment.  Not sure if it IS because of the withdrawal side effects from medication I am having, or because I am now perhaps seeing a bit clearer (or not?)

Some of the other dolls I am also thinking this way about are my two delightful Galoob Baby Face girls.  They bring a smile to my face for sure, but they just sit on the shelf...

More to come...another day....

Sweater for Chrissy & Outfits for Baby Face Girls

I finished the striped jumper last night and it fits and suits Chrissy brilliantly.  I also made a matching hat.

I'm seriously thinking about downsizing my American Girl dolls as I really only have eyes for Chrissy and it seems a shame the others don't get enjoyed in the same way.  A hard decision to make as I do like them all, but it seems I very definitely have a favourite who gets all the attention.

My two little girls Sandie & Suzie in their delightful outfits sent to them from Bama.

Don't they look cute?

Such fun!

Thank you so much Bama, I love the outfits so much as do the girls.

Now there are two

As much as love all my dolls I have been doing really well on the downsizing and have made a reasonably size chunk in my debt.  To date I have sold 44 dolls (45 items in total) so I've been doing really well.  I have succumbed a couple of times to some very cheap bargains, which I know I shouldn't have, but again they have been times of more pain that usual, so I must beware not to go on the computer then.  These have been things on my 'wish list' though, so nothing not planned for.

I think what I really need to do is a doll inventory though, and really work out which of the remaining ones are here for what purpose, display, play, enjoyment, historical reasons, or 'just because' and give those reasons a good thinking over so that I get to a place I really want to be.

I don't really have many baby dolls, not having been especially fussed about them.  I have one Galoob Baby Face 'So Surprised Suzie' who came here earlier in the year.  Although not strictly a baby, more a toddler I love her cheeky happy face and had always planned on getting a friend/sister/twin for her at some stage so when the opportunity arose last week and I saw one for a good price, well I found it hard to resist, and failed.  Anyway she arrived this morning.  She wasn't in quite as good condition as Suzie but is still lovely and with a good flannel bath she has cleaned up nicely.  I may also wash her hair at some stage, but at the moment it is fine.  So without further ado meet 'So Sweet Sandi'  Certainly Suzie seems thrilled to have a sister.

They are both wearing 'borrowed' Sasha dresses as I have been having an ongoing saga with making clothing for Suzie, but now I have the bodice size, hopefully I will be more successful in my next attempt.  The dresses are of course too long, but Suzie and Sandi thought they were fun to wear.  I was also delighted to see that they fit American Girl shoes.  I do like things that fit multiple dolls, always handy, especially with shoes!

I love their bright blue eyes.

Now these two dolls won't be companion dolls as such, but I will have fun playing with and dressing them every now and again, especially when I need some brightness and fun.

So as such I will start my doll inventory with these two.

Hey there Baby Face

Introducing another of my dolls today, this time a Galoob Baby Face Number 2 from the first issue 'So Surprised Suzie'.  A little while ago I read about some very cute faced baby dolls on Bama's blog Dolls of an Era and thought how cute they were.  Well I didn't actively go looking for one, but while browsing Ebay one day (like you do) looking for something else, I came across 'So Surprised Suzie' and well the rest is history.    I don't think her dress is original, but apart from that she is in good condition and her joints all work well...she bends at the knees and elbows and can stand.  She needs a bath but is currently enjoying herself playing and rolling about on the grass.  I will have to keep an eye out for her original dress and shoes and find a couple of red ribbons for her crimped hair pony tails.  More can be read about the history of these dolls here.
