Unusual Happenings In Makiesville

All had been fairly ho hum lately and the Makies just carry on doing what they are doing in Makiesville...but...

Some unusual happenings in the Makies Sphere were seen today...

Is this Peter Sinister with his shirt all tucked in sporting a waistcoat?

A frog waistcoat at that??!!

He was seen spotted wandering the garden and muttering earlier...

Oh...what is this?  Has he plucked up the courage to chat?

They call me 'Mellow Yellow'

Although her name is 'Sunshine'

Finishing a couple of projects that have been on the 'back burner' for a while - to keep being creative.

I have been wanting a 'sunshine yellow' Makie for as long as I have known you could dye Makies I guess....but never had one suitable to dye or that I wanted to until fairly recently when I sorted through them yet again and selected one for the plunge!

This girl was the victim to be....

I found some dye locally....and took her to pieces and cleaned her up.

The dye didn't work!  So I perused good ol' Amazon and bought 'next day delivery' as I am impatient some Rit dye which I was told will work.

This is the colour I used.

Very unscientifically I added the salt...then realised it said to add vinegar for nylon...so thought that would be better and gaily added some white wine vinegar (which was all I had) to the mix.

It seemed to do the trick!

Here she is.

Miss Sunshine

I am hoping she will work her magic and bring us some sunshine that lasts more than an hour or so!

Trying wig on for size...she is actually hoping for a bright blue one.

First dress made - colours of nature.

Wren meets a friend.

Wren attended the Sasha Celebration Weekend with me as we were hopeful that her friend would be there...she was in luck!

They meet for the first time.

Isabel can't quite believe it.

They welcome each other with open arms.

It is almost like looking in a mirror...they are similar but different and feel like they have known each other for ever.

They embrace.

A little later....Wren is aghast as Isabel samples the wine...needless to say Isabel was not feeling very well later in the evening!

Wandering with Wren - Bluebell Glory

There was another girl wandering through the bluebells yesterday...

It was Wren of course!

She too enjoyed sitting for a while and just enjoying nature in all its glory.

February Already?!

Wow, February already - I am completely convinced that the older you get the faster time goes.

I have decided my doll of focus for the 'A Doll A Day' photography challenge will be Xanthe Phylica this month - she enjoys 'pointing' out things, so will be perfect for it.  I will only post the photos once a week though.   She has been getting in some practice....

Look!  Flower

Look!  Minions

Xanthe is delighted the Minions all stood in an orderly line for her.

Look!  Domos

However, she didn't have the same luck with the Domos!

What else on the agenda for this month is yet to be determined....

I hope to make Hazel Bleuette a Valentines Dress and I want to spend some more time with Peggy Sue.

Peggy Sue and Henry enjoyed dog walking yesterday. It was good for them to get out in the fresh air, rather than being cooped up inside all the time.

I also need to decide who is to come with me to New Zealand later this month when I return to visit my parents.  Henry will of course come with me, and Hitty Madge and her two (possibly three visitors).  Peggy Sue is putting forward a strong case to go again as well!  Then of course the question is...what about Wren who came last year? I am not at all sure about her as well.

My poor Makies, including Wren have been much neglected of late - somehow my enthusiasm for them seems to have waned at present, but they are able to keep themselves busy it seems and I am sure they will wait until the time is right to come back into play.

Otherwise, I shall continue with my 'Doll Census' it is both enlightening, and rather shocking!

Happy February!

Last two Makies Arrive - The White Duo

So back on 10th September I ordered my last two Makie dolls, this time in white as mentioned in this post here.

After what seemed a very long time - certainly longer than the usual two weeks, they arrived this morning - perfect timing as it turned out for a very rainy day and being stuck inside.

So I took my time as I really wasn't sure what I would think of these two when they finally arrived.

One box....

Two tubes...

Two Makies....

Hmm....

Well....part of me wonders just what WAS I thinking when I designed these two?

The girls make up is rather overdone and lopsided but she certainly has a determined look about her.

Not sure if this guy really wants to wave hello or tell me to back off...

I decided to change her wig and prefer her with this white wig.

They could be twins I guess?  Certainly related.

Wet afternoons are perfect for sewing so I made her a dress

Which really shows how 'slapped' her cheeks look!  I will have to wash this off.

I think the boy is going to be a doctor of some kind.

My husband thinks he will be great in one of my Scooby Doo stories.

Not quite sure just what type of doctor he is though!

Having seen pictures of the new bodies now I have to say I am SO glad I ordered these when I did.  The new bodies might be more easy to pose and slightly more flexible, but I really don't like them at all.

Not quite sure how these two will develop yet and just 'who' they are.  They need names as there 'Makie Lab' names are really not what I would choose.

I had toyed with the idea of dying them.  I quite fancy a bright sunshine yellow Makie, but I don't think I can - these two will stay white I think.

Thursday Doings.

The other day a little coat was up for sale on a group I am on - I missed out on it...but a few days later the person who bought it decided it didn't suit the Makie she bought it for so offered it to me, so I was pleased for this second chance offer.

Trish is the proud owner of this new coat  - although she said she needs a different dress to go underneath it.

They are certainly fussy creatures these Makies.

A little while later after rummaging around in the clothes box she found the leather skirt dress and deemed that more suitable for a girl of her standing.

She enjoys a walk outside in between showers.

Parker also grabbed the opportunity to dash outside today during a dry spell to exercise one of the dogs in his care at the veterinary hospital.

This little miniature Schnauzer Rufus is recovering well and enjoyed a walk outside with Parker

They didn't stay out too long as Parker didn't want Rufus to over do things.

Another little boy to spend a little time outdoors today was Little Thomas with a dear little friend he is looking after.

They seem quite enthralled with each other.
