Autumn Leaves Come Tumbling Down

The leaves from our Maple tree are falling and it is an almost daily task to rake them up and put them in the compost.

Peggy Sue says:  I'm helping, honestly I am....

I think she enjoys playing with the leaves...

The leaves make a soft, if somewhat damp bed!

But later on...she looks at what appears to be a daunting task.

Some time later...

the task is completed!

The beginnings of Little Miss Perfekta's wardrobe.

Last night I did some knitting for Little Miss Perfekta

I knitted her a little dress with some lovely NZ lace weight wool

She needed a pair of underwear so I made up this pattern as I knitted.

This little simple green dress was made for her yesterday.

This is a little nightgown, also made yesterday.

A little purple felt dress made this morning.

She was also seen spotted talking to Frog..this morning...

I wonder what they were talking about?!

A Mouse in the House Outside

That cheeky little mouse,
Last spotted in the house,
Was seen outside today

In the long grass he ran,
This way and that
With the sun beating down
Upon his white back

That strange little fellow in the long grass at noon
It was surprising to see, him again so soon.
Pointing here, pointing there,
Some mutterings were heard,
It really did seem, just quite absurd.

Was that mouse on a mission?
To assess his position?
On whether he wanted to stay?
Or perhaps he went out there to play?

They call me 'Mellow Yellow'

Although her name is 'Sunshine'

Finishing a couple of projects that have been on the 'back burner' for a while - to keep being creative.

I have been wanting a 'sunshine yellow' Makie for as long as I have known you could dye Makies I guess....but never had one suitable to dye or that I wanted to until fairly recently when I sorted through them yet again and selected one for the plunge!

This girl was the victim to be....

I found some dye locally....and took her to pieces and cleaned her up.

The dye didn't work!  So I perused good ol' Amazon and bought 'next day delivery' as I am impatient some Rit dye which I was told will work.

This is the colour I used.

Very unscientifically I added the salt...then realised it said to add vinegar for nylon...so thought that would be better and gaily added some white wine vinegar (which was all I had) to the mix.

It seemed to do the trick!

Here she is.

Miss Sunshine

I am hoping she will work her magic and bring us some sunshine that lasts more than an hour or so!

Trying wig on for size...she is actually hoping for a bright blue one.

First dress made - colours of nature.

Daisy Chains

Peggy Sue and Janice have been making daisy chains

Do you think I look pretty?  Peggy Sue asks.

Watch me twirl!

Janice watches Peggy Sue twirl with delight with her daisy chain crown on her head.

Peggy Sue goes to a 'new' garden centre.

Peggy Sue enjoyed an outing to a new to us garden centre today.

She found a train and wanted to take it home for Henry as she was sure he would love it.

Sadly it came with a hefty price tag so it was left behind.

We did bring home a wooden wheelbarrow planter though which she helped put together.

Hopefully we will get some flowers in the next couple of days to plant in it.

We also saw some fun ideas for 'fairy gardens'

We thought we might try making one of these at some stage.

Out for a walk.

Candid photos are often the best!

I caught these two girls out strolling this morning.

I wonder what they were talking about?

Hard Work and Play make Peggy Sue Happy

Peggy Sue heard Dad say that he was going to be painting the roof of his office today....

She donned her overalls, grabbed a bucket and set off to help.

The steps on the ladder are quite far apart....

But taking it one step at a time she gradually gets higher

and higher...

finally she is on the roof and starts scrubbing to get it all clean and clear for painting.

After a little while of working hard she has a break and admires the view - she can see into all the other gardens from up here!

Walking back through the garden after the roof is prepared Peggy Sue notices that there are a load more leaves in the garden...this will never do she thinks to herself!

She finds the rake...

and starts raking up all the leaves

She works really hard...

...until there is quite a pile!

All done!

Peggy Sue helps put the pile of leaves in the compost bin.

Time for play!

Peggy Sue has been wanting to go up to the tree house for ages....but the boys tend to be round and so far have been dominating it...but now was her chance as they were nowhere to be seen.

Fortunately they had left the rope ladder down...

She starts to climb it.

It is not easy as it sways too and fro

But Peggy Sue is one determined young lady as we all know.

Eventually....

She makes it to the top

Carefully she starts to climb through the trap door hole.

There she goes!

And Up!

Peggy Sue has made it.

She couldn't help but sing 'I'm the King of the Castle'

Peggy Sue was very proud of her achievements and can't wait to bring Little Owen up with her next time.  She is very excited about telling him all about her adventure.

Darling Peggy Sue, hard worker gets her reward.

After a while it is time to come down

She heads off back to the house

full of stories to tell her friends.
