Daisy Chains

Peggy Sue and Janice have been making daisy chains

Do you think I look pretty?  Peggy Sue asks.

Watch me twirl!

Janice watches Peggy Sue twirl with delight with her daisy chain crown on her head.

Advent 2015 - Day Twenty One

The Advent posts are over on my Sewing for Sasha Blog but I thought today's should be posted here as well as they feature little Oliver William.

Hi Henry, I was wondering if Oliver William could open the Advent window today?  Peggy Sue asks.

Absolutely.  Henry replies.

Oliver, you need to find the little door with the number 21 on it.  That is a two and a one together.  Peggy Sue explains.

Here it is!  Oliver William says as he spots it.

Yes, that is right.  Peggy Sue says.

Open it up.

Oliver William opens the little door and to his delight sees a treasure chest inside.

Wowee, that is neat!  Henry says.

A treasure chest!  What fun.  Peggy Sue agrees as Oliver William holds it for them both to see.

Pop it down on the little scene Oliver.  Peggy Sue says.  Perhaps over there.

Oliver William kneels down....

Holding the chest ever so carefully.

There, is that okay?  He asks.

Just perfect.  Henry tells him.

I wonder if there is any treasure in it? Oliver William asks.

That will probably come in another window.  Henry replies.

Who is going to open that?  Oliver asks Henry.

I think it will be Junior.  Henry tells him.

Junior?  Peggy Sue asks?  You mean he is coming to visit?

Yes, tomorrow.  Henry says.  He is even going to be able to stay a while.

Wow, fantastic!  Peggy Sue says.  She explains to little Oliver William that Junior lives with a friend of hers.

They are all excited about having a visitor come and stay for a while.

Pat-A-Cake

Florence has been teaching Oliver William how to play the clapping game Pat-A-Cake

After a few false starts and some co-ordination blunders

He seems to have got it sorted.

Some more sewing....

Well yesterday's lovely weather has disappeared...should have known it wouldn't last long before the rain came down again.

This is the dress I made yesterday for Peggy Sue that she was wearing in the photograph where she was sitting and dreaming.

I also added the little sun hat, as when the sun is hot, you need protection!  Plus it is the perfect pretty accessory.

Today with it being thundery and wet I thought I would make another dress.

This dress has a real 'nautical' link as it was made from my older son's white naval shirt. He is a navigational officer. I am trying to use only fabrics and notions and other things that I have as I can't really be buying any special fabric at the moment. Unfortunately the navy wasn't quite the same on the collar and on the cuffs, but hey it will do, Peggy Sue is pretty good and rarely complains. A pattern I made up as I went along.

Show & Tell

I realised that I forgot to post the picture of the little 'surprise party dress' that I made for my friend.

This one she didn't know about.

I added a little flower to the dress and the headband.

I then made one for mini Saige.

I've had a little change round...

Bertie, Edith & Betsy are playing

Anne-Marie and Catherine are playing a game of Ludo.

Peggy Sue has been for a walk with her little dog.

It is lovely to have her more actively involved in the day to day things again.

26/30 Peggy Sue & Bertie

26/30

What is Peggy Sue looking at I wonder?  She rather looks like she is telling someone off....

Is poor Bertie the recipient?  I'm not sure he is, although he really doesn't seem to be dressed appropriately for the weather!  Bare feet and a thick sweater?  Poor boy could probably do with some new clothes.  These were made for him in the winter and then all clothing production for Bertie stopped.

He looks rather sweet and innocent here...

Whereas, this is a Peggy Sue I don't think I have seen before!

Miss Dolly Schoenhut has a hair wash and a new dress.

In between washing and hanging out clothes I have been busy today making a pair of bloomers and a dress for my new girl.  She has also had her hair washed and then she sat in the sunshine while it dried.  Yes we have had lovely sunshine today!  Her human hair wig is nailed on so I carefully washed and conditioned it with a towel wrapped round the rest of her body.  I also gave her body a good wipe over.  There was some hair loss and it is a little sparse in places, but it is so lovely, soft and shiny now it looks and feels so much better and an awful lot cleaner!  The water was very murky indeed!

These will tide her over until I make her an underwear set like she would have worn in the early 1900s.  Certainly she will need some pantaloons as well for the colder weather.  These were made with some scraps I had been given at my quilting group by one of the ladies that goes there.  I have been given various scraps of lace, buttons and fabric and the dress is also made with fabric I have been given.

I wasn't sure how pink would look on her, or how this linen fabric would hang, but overall it is not too bad.

Oops, before I found her a longer pair of stockings.

I ended up making two belts as the first didn't fit, despite me measuring!  Not sure what went wrong there.

I washed her hair and she sat in the sun while it dried.  I finished it off with a light go over with the hair dryer.

Her hair has a lovely 'natural' wave to it.

I just need to find or make some shoes for her now.

She sits down to give her little doll a hug.

Okay, so not necessarily the prettiest doll, but I really love her.

I asked my younger son (15 year old on autistic spectrum) what I should name her yesterday.  He often has the knack of coming up with some really good names.  He thinks she should be called Anne-Marie.

So...Annie Marie
Annemarie

I am not sure yet, will have to see if it fits her, or if she tells me it is something else.

Oh another thing I observed about her yesterday is that her hands seem a little small for her proportions.  However I love the way she can pose and I am starting to see what she can do.
