Peggy Sue's new bed - Part Two

So this afternoon was bed making.

First up was the 'mattress'

I used some left over wadding folded into four, cut some fabric to size, sewed up three and a bit sides, squared the corners, tucked the wadding inside and then finished off.

A good size for the bed.

I made the pillow and used the same 'mattress cover' fabric.

A plain white sheet was made to cover the mattress and a pretty rose sheet and pillow case was made for the top sheet and pillowcase.

I found the little crotchet blanket and put that on the bed as well as it is going to be cold tonight!

Looking snug...also looks like I have to do some picking up of the floor later as well!

I finished part of the quilt while at my MIL's this afternoon - I decided to 'tie quilt' it as it was so small.  I then had to sew the binding on.

I love the blue colours in this quilt.  Just a shame some of the squares weren't quite the same size as I had initially thought.

Moved into position ready to surprise Peggy Sue.

"Oh my gosh!" She exlcaims as she discovers the bed in her room.

How wonderful to watch her surprise and then amazement as she kneels down next to the bed to have a look at the quilt and all the different squares in it.

Is this REALLY for me?  she asks?

Isn't this bed and quilt wonderful Owen?  She asks her little bear.

It is indeed Peggy Sue.  Owen agrees.

Peggy Sue's 'new' bed - Part One

Yesteday while at quiliting group a bed arrived for Peggy Sue.

Even better a load of fabric was brought in to the group for us to help ourselves to for a donation to a charity.  Amongst the fabric were a bundle of precut squares.  Perfect for make a little quilt.

I would have liked the quilt top to have been bigger, but these were all the squares available.

Peggy Sue is tries the bed out for size.

"It is a bit hard"  she exclaims.

Don't worry I will make a mattress, pillow and sheets for it before you use it.  I explain to her.

School Uniform for Peggy Sue partly made

Peggy Sue tried on her school uniform 'Gym Slip' today.  The blouse/shirt and tie is still to be made, but hopefully will be done in the next day or so.

The Schoenhut School of the Arts will be opening very soon and she needs to get everything ready!

Washing day.

I couldn't make up my mind weather to post in colour or sepia today so did both!

Such a lovely day I put loads of washing on the line in the hope that it will dry.

Peggy Sue had the same idea!

Later on in the day I catch her doing some ironing...now that is something she doesn't see from me very often!

Miss Olivia Ottava receives a new dress

Miss Olivia Ottava was delighted to see that her dressmaker had finished a dress for her today.  She went for a fitting just before lunch and declared it just perfect!  I wonder how she will be spending her afternoon?

I don't think she realises just quite how many drafts of this pattern her poor dressmaker had to draw up, and even then she had to have many fittings, but these seemed to have just passed over Miss Olivia's head, or rather between her ears!

A Spring Dress - Tulips!

I've been doing some sewing today and have made a dress for a friend (although can't show it yet), and a little Spring dress for Peggy Sue.

By all accounts she is delighted with it as she broke into dance!

I am loving this little girl more and more, she is a delight to have around.
